FastCat

In FastCAT, dogs run individually in a timed 100-yard dash. Speed is calculated based on a formula (204.54/9.39) and dogs are broken down into three size categories. Dogs have to be at least 12 months old to compete and must be registered with AKC. They can’t be in season or lame.

    • 18″ and over do not receive any handicap.  A dog that is 18″ at the withers with a speed of 23 mph earns 23 points. A

    • 12″ – 18″ receive a handicap of 1.5.  A dog that is 12″ – 18″ at the withers with a speed of 18 mph earns 27 points.

    • Under 12″ receive a handicap of 2.0. A dog that is under 11″ at the withers and runs 10 mph earns 20 points.

Achieving a title is based on how many points a dog earns. Dogs accumulate points by qualifying at multiple trials.

    • Once they earn 150 points, they’re awarded the title of BCAT

    • Once they earn 500 points, they’re awarded the title of DCAT,

    • Once they earn 1000 points, they’re awarded the title of FCAT.

    • For every additional 500 points, they get a number added after FCAT, such as FCAT2 for earning 500 more points.
