Scooter  was our first Australian Cattledog.  He came to live with us in August 1999 from Colorado.  After several conversations with Lori Bashor , we decided to fly Scooter out and so the adventures began…

Scooter was a well rounded dog and had a wonderful temperament.  In  October 2000, he passed the Temperament Test which is given by the American Temperament Test Society, Inc.  This is similar to the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.  He had to go through a series of 10 obstacles and was graded on how well he handled each one and then totaled overall.

When the other two dogs were added to the family, Scooter never felt any jealousy at all.  His favorite things to do was  chasing a black Kong (one of the few toys he was never able to destroy), and keeping a watchful eye on our property.

On January 14, 2007, Scooter got sick,  What we thought was a slight case of flu turned into something much more complicated.  We found out that Scooter had a growth on his heart and fluid was accumulating around it.  We believe that the growth was a tumor.  On January 23, 2007, Scooter was deteriorating to the point that he wouldn’t eat and couldn’t keep fluids down.  We felt it was no longer fair to him to keep him alive for our sake so we made the tough decision to have him put to sleep and relive his suffering.

We miss Scooter very much and it is because of him that we became involved with cattle dogs. He truly was a good ambassador of the breed.
